Fu Shnickens
FORMED: 1991
This Brooklyn rap trio has been among the better humor-oriented hip-hop groups. They devised their name
by combining the abbreviations FU (For Unity) with Schnicken, a term they invented designed to convey
coalition. Their 1992 debut F.U. -- Don't Take It Personal on Jive didn't yield any big hits. But the group
hit paydirt when they collaborated with NBA star Shaquille O'Neal on the single "What's Up Doc." It got them
widespread visibility and exposure, making their follow-up album eagerly anticipated.
